Meeker Memorial’s decision to launch a telehealth platform is timely, with exponential growth in the use of telehealth attributed to concerns over in-person medical visits during the Coronavirus pandemic. According to research released this month by Doximity, the nation’s largest physician network, more than 20% of all medical visits will be conducted via telemedicine in 2020. The study showed that the number of Americans who reported having used telehealth since the COVID-19 outbreak increased by 57%. Doximity researchers predict that the trend will continue even after the pandemic ends, forecasting that up to $106 billion of current U.S. healthcare spend could be virtualized by 2023.
